Americanlexis: Improving English

We all want to become successful. All our activities are done only to be successful. Even most of us might have searched the Google about how to become successful, or key to success, or skills needed to be successful and many more keywords of the same type. But the actual answer to these questions is, we only need two things to have i.e.  The strong knowledge of the specific field in which you want to be successful, and another thing which is common to all is, a groomed personality which includes strong communication skill. Because, a knowledge which you can’t express effectively is of no use. If you have the knowledge but you don’t have the ability to make others understand about you ideas, then the knowledge is worthless.
Earlier time it was assumed that personality is a static thing, but later on it was discovered that a human personality have the dynamic nature, and can be groomed with the applied efforts. So, Here is the point, When we all know that improving communication skill is possible as our personality is shaped by our efforts and a sound communication skill is needed to groom our personality and hence for success, So why not to apply that efforts in the right direction ? When I searched the Internet about all the things relating to efficient English speaking, then what I found is, there wasn’t any site which provides all the things at single place, and the readers are needed to find them at different places. Now the question is how any reader who is not aware of the specific terms to improve communication (i.e. what we call Jargon), can the search the web with no knowledge of what to search or what to learn. The idea behind my blog is to bind all the stuffs related to improving English at a single place, and to provide the stuff which is not discoverable for many readers. So, the site includes Accent Reduction, Phonetics, Etymology, Grammar, Spelling rules, Vocabulary.
For non native speakers of English it is necessary to reduce their native language accent, or to adopt a neutral accent. How you feel if you meet a foreigner speaking you native language in a wrong manner, you feel irritated and uncomfortable while talking with him. Similar is the reaction of the native speakers of English, when they talk with you, so it is necessary to reduce the localized accent, and enlarge the crowd who want to follow you or who are impressed by your communication.
Phonetics is the study of sounds of a particular language. If you want to have a neutral accent that you must know the sounds (phonemes) of that language i.e. how the letters are pronounced in that language.
Etymology is the science of origin and development of words. You can become a good speaker only if you are a good listener. Listening skill requires a good knowledge of words but what about the words which you are not familiar with? Read about the etymology, and you will have the ability to interpret the meaning of unknown word viz. suppose you come across the word somnambulate (walking during sleep), but you don’t know the meaning, what next? Now, if you have studied the etymology then you might have been able to comprehend the meaning as somna-: relating to sleep [similar in somniferous: inducing sleep] and –ambulate: walk [similar in perambulate: to stroll]. Even if the etymology of some words does not gives you such information, then also the story behind that word may be interesting to you. [etymology of salary/salt]
Grammar is essential part which you must know about to be efficient in written communication, competitive exams, etc, and in oral communication as well. Being unaware about grammar while speaking shows that your weak points and makes you to be perceived as uneducated by others.
Spelling rules for written communication are also very important. We in our blog will provide spelling rules which are undisclosed to many people viz. confusion between ie and ei [like view, receive], confusion between –able and –ible [like portable, audible] and much more to discover.
And finally the vocabulary section. You must have a large vocab to have a good listening skill and to have a good speaking skill so as to make your interlocutor impressed by your communication. We provide a better way in which the vocab can be learnt easily ,i.e. by associating words, which I have adopted from the fact that, all the humans have learning process with the help of associative memory. [Viz. memorizing current events by connecting it with a previous known similar incident e.g. suppose once you come across the word lexis (meaning: book containing alphabetical arrangement of words of any language and their definition) but you better memorize lexis by associating it as the synonym of dictionary]
The complete mission of the blog, hence, is to provide the guide to the learners about all aspects of stuffs regarding improving English communication.
